Octopus Energy are leading the industry with revolutionary smart tariffs allowing you to pair smart tech to save money, cut carbon and help the world ditch fossil fuels faster.
Octopus Agile
Agile Octopus is one of the innovative beta smart tariffs, helping bring cheaper and greener power to all customers with a smart meter, but is directly impacted by wholesale market volatility.
The price of electricity changes every 30 minutes depending on factors like renewable energy production and demand.
Agile prices can spike up to 100 p/kWh any time – although a typical household in Winter ’22-’23 paid around 35 p/kWh average.
Agile prices can also go below 0p/kWh during periods of excess energy on the grid. This means you can earn money for using electricity. Do your laundry, charge your car, make a cup of tea; all whilst earning money to lower your bill!
This tariff is best suited to customers who can shift large amounts of their energy use to avoid these expensive peaks, often by using smart home technologies like solar and batteries.

Octopus Tracker
Your prices change every day based on the wholesale price of energy.
Get a transparent look at the true cost of energy – and when the market price drops, so do your bills. Choose Tracker for your electricity, gas, or both.
If you don’t want to time your day based on the 30 minute periods of Octopus Agile, or you are at work during the day and can’t load shift then Octopus Tracker might be for you!
Take advantage of wholesale market fluctuations, especially in the summer when solar generation is maximised, add in a windy day and the turbines are turning and you will be surprised at how low the p/kWh goes.
This does mean though that cold dark still days can push the prices up in the winter, as renewable solar is much less during the winter months.
Octopus Tracker isn’t just for electricity, it is for gas too, the wholesale price fluctuates each day depending on supply and demand, and generally runs cheaper than being on a fixed price tariff.
Don’t let the big energy companies benefit from when energy is cheap, they profit from charging a fixed price and benefit from the cheaper wholesale days. You can benefit instead with Octopus Tracker reflecting the market fluctuations!

Outgoing Octopus
Perfect for homes with solar panels, battery storage and other types of renewable generation. Outgoing Octopus comes in 2 forms:
Outgoing Agile – the price you are paid based on wholesale market fluctuations and energy demand.
Outgoing – a flat rate of 15p/kWh exported, day or night.
If you have solar panels and / or battery storage, you can get paid for the surplus electricity you export to the grid.
Outgoing Agile is great if you have the ability to force discharge your battery to the grid and schedule when this happens in the day. Typically prices are highest during 4pm to 7pm when electricity is in high demand, but this is when the sun is fading, so your generation isn’t as high. During off peak times, you may see the typical price is lower than the flat rate of 15p/kWh.
Outgoing, the flat rate of 15p/kWh, is great if your battery is fully charged early in the day by your solar. You can then benefit from a flat rate for all the surplus electricity you are exporting to the grid. Despite not enjoying the peaks of Outgoing Agile, if you don’t have the ability to force discharge energy to the grid, this is the tariff for you.
You can pair these tariffs with the Agile Import tariff. If your system is really sophisticated, you might even be able to schedule your battery to charge at night when electricity is cheapest and force discharge in the afternoon when Outgoing Agile is highest, you might even make a small profit each day!
If you have just had a solar installation completed, you can have Outgoing or Outgoing Agile alongside your existing Electricity and Gas supplier. This is particularly useful if you have exit fees attached to your existing supplier.

Flexible Octopus
If you don’t currently have a smart meter, but you still want to join Octopus Energy for their award winning customer service then this is the tariff for you.
Other energy suppliers have been slow in some areas to fit smart meters to domestic and commercial properties, so the smart tariffs that Octopus Energy offer are not available to every property in the UK.
However, you can still sign up to Octopus Energy, and then request a smart meter. You will be added to a waiting list, and once fitted, you can move onto a smart tariff and enjoy the benefits thereafter.
This tariff is comparable to the other large energy suppliers in the UK, and quite often is marginally cheaper than Octopus Energy’s competitors.
In the Octopus Energy account area you have the opportunity to spin the Wheel of Fortune once a month to win Octopoints. These can be converted into account credit to be added to your balance or spent in the Octopus Energy store for branded merch. You get one spin per fuel, so 2 spins per month if you have Electricity and Gas with them, and a bonus spin if you have a smart meter, so 4 chances to win each month.
